What iPhone users should check when Discord image uploads fail

Troubleshoot Discord image uploads on iPhone: check photo access, failed sends, or missing images, then follow the steps for your symptom.

When an iPhone cannot send an image to Discord, choose the symptom that matches what you see:

You cannot select the photo

Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos and check Discord's access if it appears in the list. If you have allowed access to only some photos, check whether the photo you want to send is included.

Apple explains how to review app access to information on iPhone.

You can select it, but sending does not finish

If Discord shows a file-size error, use the file size limit guide to understand the boundary.

  1. If there is no size error, try a smaller, different image in the same conversation or channel.
  2. If that image also fails, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data and try the smaller image again.

If the smaller image sends, compare the original with another image or a copy in a different format. A successful comparison suggests a file-specific issue; it does not establish that HEIC is unsupported, especially if the file size also changed.

The message was sent, but the image is not visible

First check whether the sent message actually includes an image attachment. If there is no attachment, return to the sending checks.

If the attachment is present, have the recipient check Discord's Chat settings. On mobile, tap the profile image at the bottom right, then the cogwheel at the top right, and open Chat.

Check the options for displaying images uploaded directly to Discord. Then open the same message on another device or in a browser to compare.

Discord's File Attachments FAQ explains attachment-display settings.

After the upload works: storage and video sharing

For announcement images and event photos that members will need again, the large file sharing guide can help you choose a shared location.

Videos may need a different approach to keep their quality. If your server also shares videos, use the video upload guide to choose how to send them.
